Job Description

Position: National Director

Reports to: Regional Director

Position Summary:

Christian Children’s Fund’s (CCF) Indonesia office is recruiting a National Director to represent the organization and provide leadership to its operations in Indonesia. Based in Jakarta, the National Director leads and supports the implementation of programs to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children to have the capacity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities.

Reporting to the Regional Director in Bangkok, the National Director contributes to and participates in activities that support CCF’s mission and strategic direction, and is accountable for strategic plan development, implementation and outcomes, resource planning and mobilization, budget development, human resources, programs and overall management of the country’s operations. The National Director also liaises with governing/advisory boards within the country, Asia Regional Office in Bangkok, International Office in the US and the CCF network.

Christian Children’s Fund invites experienced development professionals to apply for this challenging and exciting post. Applicants require a proven track record of successfully leading change in a position of similar responsibility. The position requires leadership and drive to achieve the organization’s strategic goals, the ability to inspire and motivate a team, excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience in strategic planning, proposal and report writing. The successful candidate will be accomplished at presenting ideas and representing the organization among a wide range of audiences including peer organizations, national government, community associations and children, as well as the ability to influence key stakeholders and donors and work closely with other aid agencies.

The selected candidate will be expected to take up the position by the end of August 2009 and to travel extensively in Indonesia and abroad.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visibility and transparency: Ensure that CCF’s Indonesia program is recognized by stakeholders as a strong child development organization and as a leader in children's issues.
  • Leadership/Planning: Provide leadership for the Indonesia program through strategic planning Management/Operations: Ensure adequate financial, human resource allocation for the successful implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and mission.
  • Resource Mobilization and Management: Provide leadership in, and actively participate in proposal development for acquisition of resources. Ensure the efficient and judicious use of resources in the pursuit of quality programs for child development and protection.
  • Program management: Expand and develop the Indonesia program through the development of initiatives that further CCF’s impact on the well- being of children and their communities.

  • Ability to grow/develop a development agency by attracting local and international resources and building alliances.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues.
  • Ability to pragmatically solve problems and plan a course of action using analytical, conceptual, strategic and forward thinking abilities to achieve an effective resolution.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in such areas as: project, budget and resource management.
  • Strong visioning, strategic planning and implementation ability.
  • Ability to recognize, react and adjust to rapidly changing conditions and to allocate resources accordingly with cohesion and a sense of urgency.

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate level degree in community development/social sciences or relevant discipline is essential.
  • 10 years experience managing development work in a senior management position.
  • Experience with emergency programs as well as community development.
  • Experience in the management of large institutional grants.
  • Proven track record of strong management skills.
  • Experience in child-focused programming will be an advantage.
  • Outstanding communications skills - both written and oral communication skills in English.
