A USAID sponsored project in agribusiness markets and support activities seeks applicants for a Horticulture Assistant based in Simalungun and Pakpak Bharat.

The Horticulture Assistance will contribute to project overall objective to produce measurable results in horticulture productivity. The tasks and responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Work with agribusiness stakeholders to achieve maximum collaboration in implementing AMARTA program.
2. Together with Horticulture Coordinator to organize farmers groups, cooperation, association and other related institution to respond of increasing competitiveness.
3. Organizing farmers training, collecting data, processing and monitoring of horticulture programs.
4. Maintaining relations with other stakeholders and invite their participation to create more coordinated and business oriented in horticulture.
5. Maintaining, monitoring and evaluating of all AMARTA horticulture programs in the farmers’ level, such farmers training, demonstration plot and farmers field school.
6. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Agribusiness Specialist or Horticulture Coordinator.

Qualification
For this position, she/he must have minimum 2 years of field-based experience in project implementation, community mobilization, and monitoring and evaluation. Experience and expertise in Horticulture specifically in Citrus, Potato and Chili, including understanding of horticulture best practice. Minimum Bachelor Degree on agribusiness or equivalent in horticulture science or similar degree. Experience in working effectively and respectfully with host country government, INGO and NGO partners. Demonstrate skill in communication, report writing, financial management, monitoring, evaluation, team management and problem solving. Competent English language preferred and ability to speak in Simalungun or Pakpak Bharat is considerate.

The Tropical Fruit Value Chain Coordinator will contribute to project overall objective to produce measurable results in tropical fruit productivity.

Together with Banana Demo plot Supervisor, Goverment Extension agent and BPTP to organize farmers groups, cooperation, association and other related institution to respond of increasing competitiveness.
Organizing farmers training, collecting data, processing and monitoring of Tropical fruit programs.
Maintaining relations with other stakeholders and invite their participation to create more coordinated and business oriented in tropical fruit.
Maintaining, monitoring and evaluating of all AMARTA horticulture programs in the farmers’ level, such farmers training, demonstration plot and farmers field school.

COFFEE VALUE CHAIN COMPETITIVENESS ADVISOR - AMARTA

COFFEE VALUE CHAIN COMPETITIVENESS ADVISOR

The DAI-AMARTA project is working in three value chains nationwide and seeks a full time additional staff to support coffee sector activities based in Jakarta and/or Medan.

The objective of this position is to assist in the design, implementation, and management of the coffee value chain initiatives in various locations to enhance Indonesian competitiveness through value chain interventions. The Coffee Value Chain Competitiveness Advisor is specifically responsible for liaising with producer organizations to identify, plan, and implement technical assistance, training, and RACA activities for the Arabica coffee value chain, resulting in increased productivity, improved quality, access to better markets, and an enhanced enabling environment.

TASKS (PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS)
Assist in the delivery of core industry value chain strengthening activities:

• Agriculture activities implementation to design, deliver and ensure Value Chain interventions in Arabica coffee producing regions with main focus on development of small coffee farmer training programs to increase production, improve quality, and access better markets.
  Value Chain Intervention Implementation, provide program management support for key VC interventions specifically in policy / regulatory strengthening; regional / domestic market expansion; and industry competitiveness improvement; Manage implementation of Strategic Action Plans (SAP) for key VC interventions including determining strategic vision, objectives, action and tasks and determining and including key stakeholders; Monitor VC Intervention implementation and performance on an ongoing basis, and identify additional intervention needs which can be served through the AMARTA technical practices, Regional Competitiveness Alliances, and / or through AMARTA’s network of key stakeholders.
  
  
• Identification, formation, and strengthening of agribusiness producer organizations, cooperatives, and associations in the regions, particularly in the Lintong, Lake Toba, and Sidikilang areas.
• Establish and maintain relations with producer and trade associations as important players in the AMARTA value chain intervention activities.
• Assist in capacity building, institutional strengthening, or other means to improve their participation to improve agribusiness competitiveness.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Regional Agribusiness Competitiveness Alliances for the Coffee Sector
• Help identify and form local advocacy groups for addressing policy and regulatory reform issues for discussion and resolution
• Provide technical assistance, advise, and support for performing due diligence on policy and regulatory issues identified by stakeholders in order to prepare reform action
  

Report results

• Deliver periodic quantitative and qualitative data from VC interventions in a timely manner, as well as descriptive reporting of results.
• Obtain and deliver periodic data from RACA activity and capacity building development

Industry Specialist - DAI

The consulting company DAI is managing a USAID-sponsored orangutan conservation program (OCSP) and is seeking an international professional for a nine month position as Industry Specialist – Orangutan Best Management Practices. The Industry Specialist will oversee the piloting of orangutan habitat management guidelines within four types of natural resource concessions: mining, oil palm, timber plantation and logging.

The position will require extensive travel to field sites in Kalimantan and Sumatra to work with commercial industry, technical staff and grantees.

Qualifications:
A minimum of five years experience working with timber, mining, paper and pulp or oil palm industry. Demonstrated project management experience, particularly on donor supported projects. Fluency in English and proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia. Knowledge of Indonesian conservation issues preferred. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
